ABUJA, Nigeria – The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control(NCDC) has launched two molecular laboratory equipped to run test for the Coronavirus Pandemic and related ailments.

The two laboratory are situated in Lagos and Ogun State but established by Weare54gene in collaboration with state governments and the NCDC.

“@NCDCgov We are pleased to announce the inclusion of two new laboratories in Lagos & Ogun, established by @weare54gene in collaboration with the State governments & NCDC This brings the number of laboratories in our molecular lab network to 17 & expands national testing capacity”, the NCDC said.

Prior to these two, there were 15 NCDC accredited 15 laboratories across the country with a total capacity to test 2,500 daily

Lagos State and FCT, with support from NCDC, have also established several sample collection centers & national testing strategy is being reviewed to maximize testing”

Meanwhile, the NCDC has also announced receiving donation of personal protective equipment, hand sanitisers and PCR test kits from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

“We are grateful to @jica_direct_en for their donation of personal protective equipment, hand sanitsers & PCR test kits to NCDC We commend the efforts of public & private entitites that #TakeResponsibility in the whole-of-society-response to #COVID19”, the NCDC said.
