LAGOS, Nigeria – The Novel Coronavirus, COVID-19 pandemic has afflicted a total of 170,901 people worldwide while total death figure has accumulated to 6,575 as at March 16, 2020.

These figures are a combination of the latest statistics released by the Centre for Disease Control(US) and the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control.

In the United States, the COVID-19 has caused enormous damage with no sign of abating, leading to a free fall in stocks. At at March 16, a total of 3, 487 people have been infected, while death toll is now 68.

The COVID-19 pandemic is currently in 49 states, forcing President Donald Trump to declare state of emergency. The US has also put a stop to gathering of more than 50 people. Several schools have been shut while most companies have been forced to shut their businesses.

In Italy, 23,980 cases have been reported, with 1, 811 deaths. In Spain, there are now 7,753 with 288 deaths. China where the pandemic is reported to have orginated, there are currently 81,020 cases with 3,217 already dead.
