COVID-19: Nigerian Mission suspends issuance of passports
LONDON, UK – The Nigerian High Commission in Britain has suspended further issuance of international passports following disruption of commercial activities by the Coronavirus, COVID-19 pandemic.
So far, a total of 180, 159 cases have been reported worldwide, with death currently standing at 7,103 as at March 17, 2020. There are 4,661 cases of COVID-19 in the United States with 85 deaths.
In Italy, 27, 980 cases have been reported with 2,158 deaths while 1,543, cases have been reported in United Kingdom with 55 deaths.
In a statement signed by Rose Yakowa-Okoh, Counselor/ Head of Chancery, said the suspension is with effect from Wednesday, March 18, 2020.

“This is to notify that effective from Wednesday, March 8, 2020, Nigerian High Commission, will suspend the processiong of passports till further notice.
“This proactive measures is to protect and limit the exposure of both applicants and staff of the Mission to the COVID-19 outbreak, which is in line with the health advisory issued by the UK Government”, the mission said, and provided emails and number to contact for those in need of urgent travels.
The mission regrets the inconvenience this might have caused travellers.
