LAGOS, Nigeria – The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control(NCDC) has confirmed five new cases of the COVID-19 pandemic, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in Nigeria to 51.

A breakdown of the five new cases show that 2 cases were found in Abuja, 2 in Lagos and 1 case of COVID-19 in Rivers State, while three others are travellers returning to Nigeria, while 2 are close contacts of confirmed case, the NCDC has said.

A further breakdown of the five showed that two of three of them just returned to Nigeria, while two had contact with a confirmed case.

“Five new cases of #COVID19 have been confirmed in Nigeria: 2 in FCT, 2 in Lagos & 1 in Rivers, 3 are returning travellers into Nigeria & 2 are close contacts of a confirmed case As at 11:25 pm 25th March, there are 51 confirmed cases 2 discharged 1 death”, the NCDC said.

Currently Lagos has 32 cases FCT has 10 cases, Ogun State has 3, Ekiti- 1 Oyo has 1 while Edo has 1. Besides, Bauchi has 1, Osun has 1 and Rivers-1, making a total of 51 confirmed cases in Nigeria.

Globally, there are 416, 916 case and 18, 565 deaths. Italy is currently leading the chart wit 74,386 case reported and over 7,503 deaths. China has 81,847 cases with 3, 287 deaths, Spain has 39, 673 cases of COVID-19 with 2,696 deaths.
