NDLEA arrests 45 suspected drug peddlers in Anambra
ONITSHA, Nigeria – The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Anambra State Command has arrested 45 suspected drug traffickers and seized drugs weighing about 5441.5248kg.
The state commandant Mohamed Idris made the disclosure while briefing journalists on activities of the agency in last two months. According to him, those arrested include 42 males and 3 females. He said arrest and seizures took place between January and February 2020.
The breakdown of the drugs include 224.1521 kg of cannabis sativa, 0.0464 kg of cocaine, 0.0046 kg of heroine, 0.0052 kg of crystalline methamphetamine , 320.0000 kg of broncleer with codeine, 2.180 kg of tramadol and 1.540 kg of rapnol.
The NDLEA man who resumed as commandant two months ago vowed to be a torn in the flesh of those peddling hard drugs in and across the state. According to him, most of the catches were those on transit and were not mainly meant to be used in the state.
The NDLEA boss commended the state command for the arrests and seizures, urging them to intensify efforts at eradicating the menace in the State.
“This scorecard is impressive and laudable. I want you to sustain your winning strategies. Be focused, undeterred and intensify efforts at detecting more illicit drug dealers to ensure that those involved are arrested and prosecuted in the state, he added.
According to him, the command was able to make much arrest because of the cordial relations it has with the general public. He said but for the corporation and understanding the agency has with the people of Anambra, the feat would not have been achieved in such a short time.
