Captured former NYSC member joins Boko Haram
LAGOS, Nigeria – Abraham Amuta, a Christian graduate who was abducted while doing his National Youth Service Corps(NYSC) in Maiduguri, Borno State has joined the radical Islamic sect, Boko Haram.
According to a report monitored on Daily Trust, Abraham Amuta turned down offer for freedom when negotiators stormed Sambisa Forest to negotiate his release.
An indigene of Benue State, Abraham Amuta was abducted April, 10, 2019 along Gwoza-Maiduguri road. He was heading to Chibok to deliver humanitarian assistance when he was abducted.
The newspaper reported that he was traveling alongside a 58-year-old man, Moses Oyeleke of Living Faith Church in Maiduguri and few others, including a schoolgirl, Ndagiliya Ibrahim Umar.
Pastor Oyeleke who was captured with him was released in November 2019. Negotiation for the release of Amuta and the other captives continued until yesterday when the process collapsed at the last hour following the decision of ex-corps member to remain in the captivity of Boko Haram.
He is said to have also renounced his Christian faith and told his negotiators to go home and that he has formerly joined Boko Haram.
