Davido’s music label shows up in case against Golden Boy Entertainment
LAGOS, Nigeria – Davido Music World, (DMW) the music label of Nigeria’s music prodigy, Davido on Monday appeared at a Lagos High Court for the first time in the case between Golden Boy Entertainment VS Tobechukwu Victor Okoh(Peruzzi).
Golden Boy Entertainment commenced the legal proceedings against Peruzzi in Suit No: LD2902GCM/2018 at the High Court of Lagos State demanding royalties and damages for violating Peruzzi’s contract for making music and writing for Davido while still on contract with Golden Boy Entertainment.
Peruzzi reportedly entered into contract with Golden Boy Entertainment in 2017 which expired November 2019. CEO of Golden Boy Entertainment, Mr. Patrick Anyaene told the media that everything that Peruzzi does with DMW while the contract persisted authomatically belongs to his company.
However, on Monday during the hearing before Justice I. O. Akinkugbe of Lagos High Court, DMW appeared in court for the first time after three consecutive alleged service by lawyers representing Golden Boy Entertainment. But counsel representing DMW however denied service.
The case has been adjourned to March 11, 2020 for continuation of trial.
Reacting to the development, Dr. Kemi Olunloyo said she was not surpised that Davido’s was represented in court for the first time. According to her, Davido has never honoured court service, has never honoured service from his Ibadan baby mama who is demanding a new paternity test in order to receive child support.
According to her, Davido is alleged to be the father of 3 girls and a son.
