ONITSHA, Nigeria – National Drug Law Enforcement Agencies (NDLEA), Anambra State says it arrested 249 suspects, confiscated 426.5988kg of hard drugs and secured 37 convictions in 2019.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Anambra state NDLEA spokesman Mr. Odigie Charles and made available to our correspondent on Tuesday in Awka, Anambra state. According to him,the State Commander, Misbahu Idris disclosed this in Awka, Anambra State.
According to the statement, the Command seized 356.9927 kg of Cannabis sativa, 0.00223 kg of Heroine 0.063 kg of Cocaine and 69.0308 kg Crystalline methamphetamine.
He also added that the command secured 37 convictions while 124 cases were still pending in the Federal High Court, Awka and the Appeal Court, Enugu.
He also stated that the State Commander also commended the support of the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Chief Dr. Willie Obiano in the fight against drug trafficking/ abuse and insecurity in the state.
He warned those involved in illicit drug activities to desist from it or face the full wrath of the law.
