ABUJA, Nigeria – The Christian Association of Nigeria(CAN) has said it is in full support of Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo who is alleged to have misappropriated the sum of N90 billion made available through office of Federal Inland Revenue Service(FIRS) for the prosecution of President Muhammadu Buhari’s 2019 re-election campaign. FIRS has denied the allegation.
Recall that earlier this year, FIRS was queried by the presidency for low collections, compared to what was collected by FIRS before 2015.
Former Deputy Public Relations Officer of the All Progressive Congress(APC), Mr. Timi Frank had alleged that Osinbajo mismanaged N90 billion made available by the FIRS for the 2019 election campaign purposes.
Reacting to the story, Osinbajo waived his immunity and vowed to sue Timi Frank and Katch Ononuju.
But speaking in Abuja, CAN President, Rev.Supo Ayokunle said the allegations are baseless and far from the truth, adding that the church will defend the vice president. He also called on Timi Frank to tender evidence or desist from tarnishing the image of the vice president.
“He has cleared the air that the allegation is baseless and there is no truth in it and that some people are plotting against him and he was ready to provide himself to be cleared.
“If there is an allegation there must be evidence and that it can never happen and will never happen. The church and the entire country will fight for him”, he said.
