NEW YORK, United States – Less than 48 hours after a Federal High Court, sitting in Abuja ordered immediate release of publisher of Saraha Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, his supporters have stormed the streets in the United States, calling for his immediate release from detention.
Sowore is currently being held by the Department of State Security(DSS). The right activist is only required to deposit his international passport with the registry of the Federal High Court with an undertaken that his lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana(SAN) will produce him in court when needed, a condition that could have be fulfilled in less than one hour.
Sowore has also doubted if he would be released putting into consideration the penchant for not obeying court order by the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
However, early this morning, his supporters stormed the United Nations Plaza and the Nigerian House, all in New York, United States to call for his immediate release.
“REALITY: #FreeSoworeNow protest held earlier today at the United Nations Plaza and Nigeria House in New York to voice the ongoing global concerns of Nigerians. ✊🏾 #UnitedWeStand”, Nigerian musician, Eedris Abdulkarem posted on the social media.
