Cita Petroleum manager arraigned for theft of N10.3 million aviation fuel

LAGOS, Nigeria – A depot manager with Cita Petroleum Limited, Mr. Adebunmi Oladapo Olawuyi has been arraigned before a Lagos Chief Magistrate Court for theft of aviation fuel worth N10.373, 470 million.
Adebunmi Oladapo Olawuyi was arraigned by Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU) of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Ikoyi, Lagos State for theft of aviation fuel and cash belonging to his employer, Cita Petroleum
The PSFU informed the court that the defendant, while acting as the depot manager of Cita Petroleum at Murtala Murtala Mohammed between May and June 2019, stole 38, 000 litres of Aviation Turbine kerosene, popularly called Jet A1, valued N9.5 million, belonging to the company.
The PSFU further alleged that the defendant also stole cash sum to the tune of N873, 470.00, belonging to Cita Petroleum contrary to Sections 280(1) (b), 281(1) & (2) and punishable under Section 287(8) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Adebunmi Oladapo Olawuyi pleaded not guilty to the charges. Following his not guilty plea, the presiding Magistrate, Alogba, admitted him to bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Sureties he said must be residents of Lagos State, with evidence of three years tax payment to the Lagos State Government. He added that all the bail terms must be verified by the prosecution and ordered the defendant to be remanded in prison custody.
The matter has been adjourned till October 7, 2019 for mention.
