ICPC raids Senator Akpabio’s company over generators, hospital equipment
UDIM, Akwa Ibom, Nigeria – Officials of the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC), today, stormed Nsemek Industries Limited situated Ukana in Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
ICPC stormed the company allegedly owned by Senator Godswill Akpabio to recover generators and hospital equipment secured by Senator Akpabio as part of his constituency project for Akwa Ibom State.
According to sources, some of the equipment were meant for Ukana Cottage Hospital in Essien Udim Local Government were diverted to Nsemek Industries, which is managed by Senator Akpabio’s younger brother, Nsentip Akpabio.
The hospital equipment include Dialysis machine, Computers, Anaesthetic machine, ECG Monitor, Oxygen regulator, among others, as well as two 15 KVA generators.
The equipment according to sources were part of items purchased through Constituency Project of Senator Akpabio. The ICPC officials were said to have acted on a tip-off, swooping on the premises of Nsemek Industries today.
The recovered equipment are said to have been handed over to the management of the Ukana Cottage Hospital, the original beneficiary of the Constituency Project.
Senator Godswill Akpabio lost in the last general election after defecting to the ruling All Progressive Congress(APC).
