Femi Gbajabiamila elected Speaker of 9th assembly

ABUJA, Nigeria – Principal officers of the 9th National Assembly were elected today in Abuja. Senator representing, Yobe North Constituency, Senator Ahmed Lawan was elected President of the Senate.
The controversial senator representing Delta State Central Senatorial District, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, who stormed the senate with thugs to snatch the mace of the 8th assembly was elected Deputy President of the Senate by the All Progressive Congress(APC). He defeated former Deputy Senate President, Dr. Ike Ekweremadu of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) .
In the House of Representatives, member, representing Surulere II Federal Constituency, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila who is being trailed by allegations of stealing and imprisonment in the United States was elected Speaker House of Representatives.
Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila scored 281 votes while Umaru Bago Muhammed who represents Chanchaga Federal Constituency, Niger State scored 76 votes.
Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase representing Wase Federal Constituency in Plateau State was elected Deputy Speaker House of Representatives.
