IKEJA, Lagos – A middle aged man, Elvis Enegbeta Chris was today arraigned before a Lagos High Court, sitting in Ikeja for murder.
He was arraigned on one count charge of murdering a vour year old child.
According to the charge sheet, Elvis Enegbeta Chris, who hails from Edo State, killed his four year old son by using a hot pressing iron and thereafter covered up the incident by depositing the corspe in a drum.
He pleaded not guilty when the one count charge was read to him.
During the arraignment, the prosecution told the court that the matter is an issue involving a minor. But Justice Hakeem Oshodi, who was infuriated by her classification of the case said life is involved and told the prosecutor to tell the Director of Public Prosecution that life is involved and that it has to do with murder and there is not need to segregate it as a case involving a minor.
He then adjourned the matter to 13th of November, 2019 for trial. Speaking to his lawyer, Elvis Enegbeta Chris said the matter was a complete set up and that there was no iron mark on the chest of the late child.
He said his present wife is not the mother of the child and that when he arrived his house he met the child on the bed and that he had nothing to do with the incident but that the child has been sick.
