Anambra NDLEA commander vows to eliminate drug trafficking business

AWKA, Anambra, Nigeria – The Commander of Anambra State Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Mr. Sule Momodu has vowed to deal decisively with drug traffickers in the state. He said the agency would continue to do its best to ensure that drug trafficking business in the state is eliminated.
Momodu who spoke to our reporter in his office in Awka, Anambra state capital assured the people of Anambra state that the agency would eliminate drug trafficking business or at worst reduce it to the barest minimum.
Momodu who was reacting to the arrest and arraignment of one suspected drug dealer, Sunday Nwankwo before a Federal High Court sitting in Awka, presided over by Justice I.B Gafai, reinstated NDLEA’s commitment to arrest and arraign drug traffickers.
He warned those in the business and those planning to go into it to desist for their good as the agency would be brutal with them. He commended the people of the state for rendering necessary supports to the agency, especially by providing information that has been helping in the fight against drug trafficking.
“We got information from public about the drug trafficking in Atani and we processed the information, swung into action and arrested one Sunday Nwankwo with cocaine , weighing 4.5 grammes on 18/05/2019 at Kara Market, Atani road in Ogbaru Local government area.
“We have charged him to court and we will continue to do our best to shut-out drug traffickers in the state to serve as deterrent to others in the business and those planning to go into it “he said
Sunday Nwankwo, male, (26), was arrested on 18/05/2019 with cocaine, weighing 4.5 grammes on 18/05/2019 at Kara Market, Atani road in Ogbaru Local Government Area and was charged to court on Thursday. Nwankwo was arraigned before a Federal High Court; Awka, presided by Justice I.B Gafai and was reminded in Awka prison.
According to Momodu , the agency was battle ready to arrest and arraign every drug trafficker and drug abuser in the state to serve as deterrent to those in the business and those who want to join.
