KHARTOUM, Sudan – Unconfirmed reports indicates that the Sudan’s President, Omar Al-Bashir has been ousted by the Supreme Military Council. The development has forced thousands of Sudanese into the streets celebrating what they see as an end to tyranny.

A BBC source said that the President has stepped down and that consultation is underway to set up a transition council and that he is currently under house arrest.

The Sudanese have been on the street protesting, calling for an end to tyranny in the past few days.

Reports says, national anthem and marshall music have been played on radio with the military reportedly embracing protesters as activists circulate leaflets purportedly from the Sudan Military Council that Omar Al-Bashir has been ousted.

Reports say he is currently under house arrest with the state radio saying a statement is expected shortly.

Omar Albashir came to power via military coup in 1989. Omar Al-Bashir has been indicted by the International Criminal Court(ICC) for war crimes.
