Kolade Johnson: Police arrest 3, says trigger happy officer will face murder charge

LAGOS, Nigeria – The Nigerian Police today said it has arrested three policemen in connection with the murder of Kolade Johnson on Sunday at Onipetesi, Mongoro, Lagos.
Reports say Kolade Johnson remains the only son of a widow before he was killed.
Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana, who spoke on Star Fm today said the three policemen arrested are currently undergoing room orderly trial within the police force adding that if they will be charged for murder if they are found guilty.
He said the officers involved are from the anti-cult unit of the Nigerian Police and not the Special Antirobbery Squad(SARS). He said the police is being re-organised to respect human rights, and that those who cannot cope will have to leave. He added that nobody has sent any policeman to misbehave outside.
While condoning with the family of the bereaved, Elkana said the Commissioner of Police has been holding meeting with the family since the incident occured. He said the CP held meeting with the immediate family on Monday that he has also proposed to hold another meeting with the family, but this time with the larger family.
Kolade Johnson was shot at No1 Beco Street, Onipetesi where he was relaxing watching a football game when the policemen invaded the area chasing after an offender. Johnson was hit by bullets during the raid and died before he could get to the hospital.
