JALINGO, Taraba, Nigeria – Youths in Taraba State are calling on President Muhammadu Buhari and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to avert crisis in the state by reviewing election results coming from Southern Zone of the state, saying it was marred by massive irregularities and intimidation of voters.

The Youths under the coalition of Southern Taraba Youths Forum said hundreds of youths were not allowed to participate in the election at the Southern Zone. In the South, election was highly ethnicized, only the Jukuns who are sympathizers of the PDP were allowed in some polling units, in some places TY Danjuma backed army alongside some compromised Jukun elders supervised ballot box snatching and multiple voting.

“We want INEC to walk the talk that anywhere the Card Reader is not used, the election would be cancelled, in the Southern Part of Taraba, the Card reader was not used in most of the polling units and many of the INEC Staff were compromised”, Kefas Bulus, Leader of the Taraba Youths Forum said.

“We are calling on  INEC to investigate the electoral irregularities in Southern Zone, the result coming from the zone is does not meet up with rules and regulation laid down by INEC for any election. As a group, we condemned the several cases of heavy votes buying in Takum, Ussa, Wukari and Donga Local Governmnets, which was perpetrated by Governor Darius Ishaku.

“We called for the total cancellation of the election in Southern Zone saying the state governor personally supervised rigging of the election in the area”, he said.
