PDP leads in Kano governorship polls after collation in 44 local governments

KANO, Nigeria – The Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) is now in clear lead in the just concluded governorship election in Kano state after collation of all the results from the 44 local governments.

The PDP’ s Abba Kabir Yusuf now has a total score 1,014,353 votes with APC’s Abdullahi Umar Ganduje trailing behind with 987,819 votes, a clear margin of 26, 534 votes.

Collation of results had been delayed when result sheet from the local government was torn into shreds by opposition party supporters. What followed was that the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC)Riskuwa Shehu ordered for fresh collation of results from the wards in Nasarawa l

After receipt of the result collation officer, Professor Bello Shehu said he will look at the number of cancelled votes and the margin of difference between the two leading candidates before he will know if the PDP candidate will be declared the winner or proclaim it as inconclusive.
