LAGOS, Nigeria – Civil rights activist, Deji Adeyanju has resigned from the group, Our Mumu Don Do, a movement he co-founded with former President of Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria(PMAN) Charly Boy.
Deji Adeyaju who has been arrested several times for being so critical of the government announced his resignation on the social media. He said he chose to resign becasue the Charly Boy betrayed him and the movement while he was in prison and that he no longer has confidence in him.
Besides, he said Charly Boy has been compromised by those he described as oppressors.
“@adeyanjudejiDear Nigerians, I have resigned my membership of Our Mumu Don. I no longer have confidence in the leader of the movement, Charly Boy. He betrayed the cause while I was away in prison and compromised with the oppressors. Thank you”, he said.
Deji Adeyanju was arrested 6 times in 2018 and sent to prison 3 times. Speaking on his ordeal in prison, he said the goal for arresting him was was to charge him for terrorism so he wouldn’t get bail. This, he said, accounts for the reason he was sent to Keffi Prison.
“When that failed, they dug up an old case”, he said. He has been discharged and acquitted.
