OSHODI, Lagos, Nigeria – The haze which enveloped some parts of Lagos State during last Saturday Presidential and National Assembly elections may not have settled in a hurry as the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP House of Representatives Candidate in Oshodi/Isolo Federal Constituency 11, Hon. Emmanuel Ugochukwudi Nnodim has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to cancel the polls result, if they ever existed.

In a strongly worded two-page petition dated 24/2/2019 addressed to the National Chairman, INEC and copied Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC in Lagos state, Hon Nnodim, he alleged that election did not hold in most polling booths (PU) in several wards within Oshodi/Isolo federal constituency 11 and consequently, the electorates in these areas were grossly disenfranchised and some brutally wounded where voting held under desperate situations.

He listed the electoral wards affected as Ajao Estate ward G; Okota ward F3; Ejigbo ward F5, Ilasamaja Ward F2. It will be recalled that since last Saturday elections, the media has been awash with reports of irregularities, disruption of the electoral process and other unprintable things that marred the election in Okota area, Isolo, Oshodi and environs leading to killings, maiming, snatching of ballot boxes and burning of voters cards already cast by the electorate.

Investigation revealed that in Ajao ward G, the polling unit 006 at  Okada Park was destroyed by unknown persons who carted away voting materials while the exercise was still ongoing.

In Okota ward F3, about 14 polling units were affected which include Nwachukwu drive 020/021, Avenue 021, 018, 019, 020, 010, canal 038,Baba Ewe 023, 024, Olusesi 035, 036 and 037, 022, 032, 039, Ohia 019.

He alleged that it was APC thugs that orchestrated the disruption by attacking voters and setting ablaze electoral materials leaving scores of voters maimed, wounded or scampering for safety. Corroborating his principal’s ordeal and the plights of some PDP agents who were beaten up and now presently hospitalised, the Director General of Hon Emmanuel Ugochukwudi Nnodim campaign organisation,

Chief Tex Ukonu who spoke at their Ajao Campaign Office disclosed that the thugs appeared like a bolt from the blues and set electoral materials ablaze, adding “they attacked everyone that resisted their nefarious operation while brutally injuring every INEC Ad-hoc Staff at the polling booths”.

“In all the areas where Hon Nnodim contested, these thugs suspected to be APC Stalwarts unleashed mayhem thereby causing disruption of the electoral process to undermine the envisaged victory of Hon Emmanuel Ugochuchukwu Nnodim. This is sad, very sad  Mr. Ukonu lamented, adding “the God of all seasons will grant my Principal justice and victory in due season”.

Meanwhile, the collation centre at Oshodi/Isolo has gone ahead with the collation of results from units which an INEC Observer that pleaded anonymity  said were not duly signed by accredited Political Parties Agents.

Hon. Nnodim is therefore praying and urging INEC to cancel the results arising from the rancourous election in Oshodi/Isolo federal constituency 11 and promptly re-scheduled same for another day to allow for a free, fair and credible election. “This is the way forward”, Hon Nnodim posited.
