PARIS, France – French fashion buff, Karl Lagerfeld is dead. He was 85. According to report, Karl Lagerfeld has been very sick for some time, a development that has kept him out of public glare for some time now.

Karl Lagerfeld is a German creative director, artist, photographer, and caricaturis based in Paris.

He was known as the creative director of the French luxury fashion house Chanel (from 1983 until his death). He is also creative director of the Italian fur and leather goods fashion house Fendi and his own eponymous fashion label.

Over the decades, he collaborated on a variety of fashion and art-related projects. Karl Lagerfeld is well recognized around the world for his white hair, black sunglasses, fingerless gloves, and high starched collars. He is called the ladies man.

According to Wikipedia, Lagerfeld had a long-term relationship from the early 1970s with socialite Jacques de Bascher (1951–1989) until he died from AIDS in 1989.

Speaking on his demise, The House of KARL LAGERFELD said it shares, with deep emotion and sadness, the passing of its creative director, Karl Lagerfeld, on February 19, 2019, in Paris, France.

“He was one of the most influential and celebrated designers of the 21st century and an iconic, universal symbol of style. Driven by a phenomenal sense of creativity, Karl was passionate, powerful and intensely curious. He leaves behind an extraordinary legacy as one of the greatest designers of our time, and there are no words to express how much he will be missed”, it said.
