APC warns Lagosians to stay away from Surulere as Buhari visits for rally

LAGOS, Nigeria – Ahead of President Muhammadu Buhari Presidential campaign visit to Lagos on Saturday, 9th February, 2019 at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere, Chairman, APC Presidential Rally Transportation Committee, Mr. ‘Demola Seriki has appealed to residents of the state to avoid Surulere and its environs on Saturday because of the anticipated gridlock that the visit of the President may create.

Making the appeal at a press briefing which held at the Ministry of Transportation, Alausa, Ikeja, Mr. Seriki disclosed that about Five hundred LASTMA Officials, One Hundred and Fifty FRSC personnel and over one thousand other traffic personnel will also be on ground to complement their efforts as the party is expecting all and sundry at the rally.

He also explained that all routes linking the Teslim Balogun Stadium will be closed to traffic and advised that alternative routes like Randle Avenue, Falolu, Adeniran Ogunsanya and Adelabu Roads should be utilized by commuters to get to their various destinations.

Speaking at the event, Federal Road Safety Commission Sector Commander for the State, Hyginus Omeje, said truck drivers will be restricted from entering the metropolis from Friday, February 8, in preparation for the Presidential rally on Saturday. He therefore advised   the truck drivers to plan their movements and cooperate with the deployed Officers to ensure that trucks the trucks do not jeopardize the travel advisory issued for the safety and comfort of all while the event lasted.
