LAGOS, Nigeria – Adekunle Temitope alias Small Doctor, who sang the popular ‘Buhari Yema sun,(Buhari stop sleeping) at the APC Convention in Abuja, was today charged to court but released on bail and told to be of good behaviour. He was charged along with three of his band members, Dare Osho, Sanusi Lateef and Hussein Darego(now on bail) before an Ebute-metta Chief Magistrate’s Court.
Charged in a suit marked 3564/2018, Chief magistrate A. O. Komolafe (Mrs.) counselled him and his band boys to be good behaviour. Mrs. Komolafe was ruling in a motion exparte brought before the court by the police from the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department (SCIID), Panti-Yaba, Lagos, seeking a bidding order against the musician and others.
At the proceedings today, the musician was represented by Mr. Yakubu Eleto, Akeem Shittu and other lawyers.
In a motion exparte filed and argued by Barrister Cyril Ajifor, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), the police asked the court for an order requiring the musician and other respondents to execute or enter into a recognizance with sureties to keep the peace in Shogunle and its environs of Lagos, for a period of one year and should not for that period engage, recruit, instigate or incite any member of the community to cause breach of public peace or disturb peace within or outside the community. And any other order court may deem fit.
The motion exparte was supported with a seven-paragraph affidavit deposed to by Inspector Kasali Saturani.Ajifor also told the court why it should make an order bidding on all the respondents.
Upon hearing from the police lawyer, Chief Magistrate Komolafe (Mrs.) admitted Small Doctor and other respondents on bail in the sum of N5 million with two sureties in like sum.
Magistrate Komolafe also granted an order bidding them for a period of one years, not to engage, recruit, instigate or incite any member of the Shogunle community and Lagos State by extension, to cause breach of public peace or disturb peace within or outside the community and Lagos State.
Recall that Small Doctor was paraded along with other criminals on Monday for possession of firearms. Speaking at the event, Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, said Small Doctor had, in the past, fired shots and injured four people.
He said the injured persons were admitted to a hospital and vowed that the artiste would be made to face the law.
