RIYADH, Saudi Arabia – U.S Secretary of State, Michael Pompeo today met with King Salman of Saudi Arabia in Riyadh during which he thanked the king for his commitment to support a thorough investigation into the murder of Jamal Kashoggi in the Saudi consular office in Istanbul.




Jamal Kashoggi visited the consular office to perfect document for the marriage to his fiancee, Hatice Cengiz.

Turkish TV showed CCTV footage of the moment Mr Khashoggi walked into the consulate for an appointment in October 6, 2018 at which he was due to receive papers for his forthcoming marriage to Turkish fiancée Hatice Cengiz.

Another video has also emerged of men described as Saudi intelligence officers entering and leaving Turkey, while Turkish media say sources have identified a 15-strong team involved in Mr Khashoggi’s disappearance.

In a statement, Spokesperson to Secretary of State, Heather Nauert said the Secretary thanked the King for Saudi Arabia’s strong partnership with the United States and that the King discussed a number of regional and bilateral issues.

He added that the secretary also thanked the King for his commitment to supporting a thorough, transparent, and timely investigation of Jamal Khashoggi’s disappearance

“Secretary of State Michael R. Pompeo met today with Saudi King Salman in Riyadh. The Secretary thanked the King for Saudi Arabia’s strong partnership with the United States. The Secretary and the King discussed a number of regional and bilateral issues. The Secretary also thanked the King for his commitment to supporting a thorough, transparent, and timely investigation of Jamal Khashoggi’s disappearance”, he said.
