GROUP HAILS AMBODE FOR RE-APPOINTING OLA ORESANYA SCRIBE OF LAWMA
IKEJA, Lagos, Nigeria – A group operating under the aegis of Itesiwaju Ipinle Eko Vanguard, a support platform for Lagos state governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, has commended the governor for involving Dr. Ola Oresanya, a former Managing Director of Lagos State Waste Management Authority, LAWMA, in his renewed efforts to rid Lagos metropolis of filth.
Dr Oresanya, who is an apex member of Itesiwaju Ipinle Eko Vanguard, was re-appointed by governor Ambode on the basis of his being relevant in the strategy for the private-public sector partnership in the state, especially as it concerned PSP operations.
The group, in a statement signed by the National Coordinator, Mr. Seyi Bamigbade, said Oresanya was noted for his far reaching reforms in LAWMA.
Bamigbade said, “He was behind several World Bank projects in the state’s environment sector. These include the waste to wealth project at Odogunyan in Ikorodu, the Olusosun plastic to nylon and water sachet top and other usable items at Olusosun and other areas in Lagos.
“Oresanya, it was, also who brought about a revolution into waste management in the state, making it possible for dirt clearing workers to operate on 24 hours basis to keep Lagos state clean and free of refuse. It is indeed a move in the right direction.
Bamigbade added that it was a major effort to ensure co-operation among stakeholders and allow for a cleaner Lagos, saying that is what the governor is primarily interested in.
He stressed the need for synergy among the various arms of government in the state, to consolidate on gains recorded in the state in the last three years by the Ambode-led government, adding that Lagos Lawmakers must continue to work harmoniously with the Executive arm of government.
“Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has shown that he is a gentleman, one who respects authority and readily conceded to the supremacy of the party, APC, and resolved to help the party win the forthcoming elections in his capacity as governor. He took the decision and he is standing by it. This shouldn’t be politicised.
“The governor is a progressive to the core, who stood on his decisions and people should stop rumours about governor Akinwunmi Ambode being at loggerheads with Lawmakers.
“The governor will continue to work in peace and conclude his term with the love for Lagosians. We plead with members of the state Assembly, to embrace peace because maintaining peace is what is right for Lagos state at this time,” Bamigbade said.
