ABUJA, Nigeria – The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) has denied ownership of the audio in circulation in which chairman of the commission, Mr. Ibrahim Magu purportedly said nothing will happen if the former governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose dies in EFCC custody.

The audio came out just few hours after the EFCC secured court order to detain Fayose for two weeks. Over one month ago, Fayose notified the commission that it will be in the commission on Tuesday, October 16 to answer questions relating to the alleged N1.3 billion fraud.

In a statement, the EFCC said the audio did not disclose the place where the conversation took place and the person that Magu was talking to. It however advised members of the public to disregard the audio, describing it as the handiwork of mischief makers.

Interestingly, the audio tape did not disclose the place where the conversation occurred and the person that Magu was supposedly talking to.

Members of the public are advised to disregard this disingenuous creation as it is the handiwork of mischief makers intent on distracting the Commission from the serious work of wrapping up the investigation into the corruption allegations against the former governor of Ekiti state.

The audio recording is fake as the comments did not emanate from the Chairman of the EFCC.
Purveyors of this fake news especially a former spokesperson of a leading political party are warned to desist.
