AFGHANISTAN – Not less than 25 people have been killed in Afghanistan when a military helicopter crashed killing all 25 people on board. According to military sources, all 25 people on board are senior military officials.




Spokesman for the governor of Western Farah Province, Naser Mehri said the helicopter was one of the two army helicopters heading to neighbouring Herat province when it lost control.

Among the dead were the deputy army corps commander for western Afghanistan and head of the Farah provincial council, Mehri said. But Provincial council member Dadullah Qaneh attributed the crash to collision with a mountain due to poor weather .

But spokesman for the Taliban said fighters loyal to the group shot it down.
