IKEJA, Lagos, Nigeria – Presidential aspirant under the platform of the African Action Congress(AAC), Omoyele Sowore has castigated the older generation, blaming them for running Nigeria aground. According to him, the older generation took Nigeria from a country that is terrible to a country that is worst and bequeathed a legacy of stealing and assassination to this generation.

Nigeria is currently ranked 152 out of 188 UN members states in the Human Development Index, now 148 in the latest Corruption Perception Index, dropping 12 places from where it was in 2015. The roads are now death traps, unemployment has reached an all time high, high cost of fuel and N360 to 1USDollar while millions of Nigeria live on less than 1USD a day.

Sowore who was speaking on Arise TV said this is the best time to defeat the old and sick people and that Nigerians should stop talking down on the youths simply because they failed to behave in the way they expect.

“If we don’t win , it will be that we did not want to win it. This is the best time to win the old guys but if we don’t win, we will have done something unique, but that is not to say that we will not win it”, he said.

Sowore who is an Ijaw man from Ondo state said he does not want to be known not as an ethnic champion but as a human being who respects the dignity of Nigerians.

Sowore who has had over 29 years experience in civil activism said he has all through the years defended Nigeria both at home and abroad and that those who claim to qualify based on their experience in bureaucracy are running Nigeria through trial by error.

He said he has been exposed to how economies are run all over the world and that Nigeria will not work unless Nigeria is run the way other countries are run.

“I have been exposed to how things work in several places. Economy of Nigeria will not work until we run Nigeria the way other countries are run”, he said adding that his government will hit the ground running from day one and tackle the problem of electricity headlong.

He said Nigeria has all it takes to generate 4,500 megawatts in 2 years from solar, tapping from the experience of Morocco. He also alluded to 9.5 cubic ft of gas in Ogoniland, which he said can only be accessed after clean-up of Ogoniland.

He said electricity will transform the country and put jobs in the hands of Nigerians. Sowore said he was never part of the Presidential Aspirants Coming Together(PACT)

“I pulled out after the first meeting that Fela Durotoye won. Tope Fasua wrote exactly what happened. I told them I am not going to work for any coalition. They listed my name as one of their attendees, but whatever came out of PACT I was never part of it”, he said.

Sowore who rose to prominence in his days as President SUG, UNILAG said his African Action Congress(AAC) has structures in at least 24 to 26 states in Nigeria and expanding to local governments and ward level and that the party hopes to participate in LG elections in Ondo state.

He said his medium Sahara Reporters is not lenient with the President Muhammadu Buhari’s government, noting that the medium has been in the forefront of breaking news on the health of President Muhammadu Buhari on his health and that he would be spending 4 months in London and man others.

Femi Adesina

He said unlike in the past where presidential spokesmen were easily accessible, the scenario has changed for the worst.

Alluding to Dr. Reuben Abati, he said: “Regardless of what I wrote I could reach you. The current ones don’t want to talk to me, It did not take less than two months before Femi Adesina stopped talking to me”, he said.

He also criticised journalists for not reporting him and his activities since he has no money. He said that though he has no godfathers, Nigerians have been able to contribute funds for his presidential campaign.
