EKITI, Nigeria – Ironically, the test of 2019 is around the corner as Nigeria desceneds deeper into the era of ballot box snatching all in desperation by political parties to win election.
PDP agent beaten by thugs allegedly loyal to APC for refusing to work for the party
This is taking place even as the Independent Electoral Commission begins collation of results. In unit 9, ward 8, lady PDP agent was beaten up and chased out of the ward for refusing to work for APC.
In Gbogyin LG, Ballot papers were snatched and destroyed in the presence of policemen, no arrest. In Ward 6, unit 001 in Emure-Ekiti, collation process was disrupted by APC thugs with the connivance of the Police, forcing the electorate to turn against the policemen for inability to protect the ballot boxes. We gathered that APC thugs under protection by security agents are now going about snatching ballot boxes in Ado Ekiti, Ikole, Igbara Odo, Efon and others.

Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has cautioned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not to accept or announce any result that does not reflect the true votes cast at polling centers, as such would be a direct call for crisis. The PDP said the public is already aware of the plots by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to smuggling in altered results at the collation level, which are at variance with already known results from the polling units.
“The people of Ekiti state already know the results that have been declared at the polling centers and as such know where the tide is flowing at every level of the Ekiti electioneering process”, PDP said in a statement by Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbodiyan.
The PDP has however noted how some compromised INEC officials are allowing the hirelings of the APC to attack and chase away PDP party’s agents at the collation centers, particularly in PDP electoral areas of stronghold.
PDP, in very strong terms, therefore cautions INEC to be guided and ensure that it is not pushed by the APC or any interest, for that matter, to subvert the will of the people as that would be a recipe for crisis.
