VANDALIZATION OF APC SECRETARIAT: WE REJECT STOCK-TAKING COMMITTEE’S REPORT – MAGNUS ABE
PORT HARCOURT, Rivers, Nigeria – Governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Senator Magnus Ngei Abe, has rejected the preliminary report of the party’s Stock-Taking Committee, which indicted him and other chieftains of the party in last Friday’s vandalization of the party’s secretariat.
Abe, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt by his spokesperson, Parry Saroh Benson, said the preliminary report of the committee which comprise, Emeka Bekee, Davies Ikanya’s Personal Assistant and others would not write any report that could favor Senator Magnus Abe, APC Vice Chairman in the state, Prince Peter Odike and the lawmaker representing Ikwerre/Emohua Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Chidi Wihioka as it is preconceived at tarnishing their image.
The senator insisted that he did not send any thug to attack and vandalize the APC state secretariat, saying that what happened at the party’s secretariat was prearranged to give him and his supporters a bad name.
“How can anybody just conclude that they were my supporters? It cannot be correct to say that those who attacked the party office are my supporters, simply because we share similar sentiments .
” I have never supported violence in politics and would not do so for any reason. All I am saying is that we must enthrone internal democracy in our party; we must say ‘no’ to high- handedness and undemocratic tendencies. I have restrained myself from joining issues with members of our party unnecessarily. All this acrimony will not help the party and it deflects from the main issue.
Abe, however admonished the party to be concern about the non- compliance of party guidelines and disenfranchisement of members at congresses.
