As Deputy Chairman, Odike confirms receipt of court injunction, warns party members not to participate

PORT HARCOURT, Rivers, Nigeria– The All Progressives Congress, APC, has gone ahead to conduct it’s local government congress in all 23 local government areas in that state. The party went on with the exercise in spite of an injunction granted by a Rivers State high Court, sitting in Port Harcourt, on the eve of congress, on Friday, May 11.
The Port Harcourt Local Government congress held at Lassmall Hall, along RumuoKalagbor Road. The governorship candidate of the APC in the 2015 election, Dr. Dakuku Peterside, while speaking in a live Radio current affairs programme stated that the exercise will go ahead. He stated that the party was not aware of any court injunction restraining the party from going ahead with the exercise as the party was not served any restraining order from the court.
The APC in Eleme local government area elected a 27-man executive to run the affairs of the party. Ajuru Saka was elected as chairman of the APC in Eleme local government. His victory was announced by the Chairman of the Local Government Congress Committee, Eleme local government, Nule Wisdom Wipo.
The new chairman assured members of the party that he will work hard to rebuild the party. Speaking at the event, leader of the party in Eleme local government area, Nigeria’s ambassador to Netherlands, Orji Ugorfa, said the exercise was peaceful and credible.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Chairman of the APC in the state, Prince Peter Odike, warned members of the party in a radio announcement to shun the exercise because he was in possession of a court injunction, restraining the party from conducting the local government congress.
