MOSCOW – Kingpin of an international hacking network declared wanted by 30 countries has been arrested in Ukraine.
According to Ukraine’s National Police, the suspect will be arrainged before a court on Monday in the Ukrainian city of Poltava for applying a measure of restraint.
The suspect, called Avalanche was nabed during a search conducted in his apartment. Items found in his apartment include a Ukrainian passport in the name of another person.
Avalanche, the police said has operated for 7 years. On November 30, 2016, law enforcement officers carried out an international special operation aimed to liquidate the cybernetwork.
Back then, a 33-year old local resident was arrested on suspicion of the group organization. However, a court refused to detain the suspect in December 2016; he fled and later was put on the international wanted list.
The hacking network was allegedly used as a platform for global cyber attacks and money laundering.
