EAST LONDON – Detectives investigating the fatal stabbing of 19-year-old Lewis Blackman in Kensington have this morning, Tuesday, 27 February, arrested five people. The five males were all arrested on suspicion of murder at addresses in north and east London – all five remain in custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Cranwell, of the Homicide and Major Crime Command, who leads the investigation, said: “My team have made five arrests this morning and, while this represents significant progress, this remains an ongoing investigation.

“Our enquiries have established that Lewis may have attended a party at an address in Earls Court Road at the junction with Logan Place. Were you at that party? Did you take any pictures or film while you were there? If so, please get in contact with police.

“I would also appeal to anyone who was in the area from around 2am that morning, specifically motorists or cyclists, who may have dashcam or helmet cam footage. This could help us establish the exact sequence of events leading up to Lewis’s murder.

“Finally, I would ask any cab drivers who made any drops or pickups from the area around Logan Place and Earls Court Road during the early hours of 18 February to come forward with any information that could assist this investigation.”
A murder investigation was launched following Lewis’s death in the early hours of Sunday, 18 February, the police said, adding that at around 03:20hrs officers on patrol were responding to reports of a large number of vehicles in Logan Place, W8, following a nearby party when they discovered a male with stab injuries.

“They administered first aid prior to the arrival of the London Ambulance Service.Despite extensive efforts to revive him, Lewis – who was from Camden – was pronounced dead at the scene at 03:46hrs.A post-mortem examination was held on Monday, 19 February and gave the cause of death as a stab wounds to the chest.Next of kin have been informed and formal identification has taken place”, the police added.

A 19-year-old man [A] was arrested near to the scene on suspicion of murder, and possession of an offensive weapon in relation to a separate incident. He has since been released under investigation.
