ACCESS BANK STAFF DOCKED FOR STEALING MONEY FROM CUSTOMERS’ ACCOUNT USING STOLEN SIM CARDS
LAGOS, Nigeria – A staff of Access Bank Plc, Mr. Michael Owuche, working in a branch of the bank at Trade Fair Complex, Lagos has been arraigned before an Igbosere Chief Magistrate’s Court for stealing money from customers’ account.
Owuche was alleged to have connived with two others to steal phones and SIM cards from members of the public at Boundary Market, Ajegunle, and through mobile banking, hacked into the victims’ accounts to withdrew large sum of money.
Others arraigned with the staff of Access Bank are Sunday Noah, and Fatai Issa.
A police officer, Adamu Ibrahim told journalists that the arrest was ordered by Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG, in charge of Zone 2 Command, Lagos, following a complaints by those allegedly robbed by the accused persons.
The accused persons were arraigned before the court on a four count-charge of felony to wit, robbery and stealing money from bank customers accounts through online banking with various sim cards belonging to the victims.
Police prosecutor, Inspector Francis Igbinosa, told the Court that Michael Owuche of Access Bank, Trade Fair Branch connived with others to rob the complainants the sum of N250,000 from their various accounts.
The accused persons however pleaded not guilty to the alleged crime. The presiding Magistrate, Aro Lambo granted them bail in the sum of N500,000 each with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till February 14, for mention.
Meanwhile the Magistrate has ordered that the three defendants be remanded at the Ikoyi Prisons, pending when they are able to perfect their bail conditions.
