PETE EDOCHIE RECEIVES GRATUITY 19 YEARS AFTER RETIREMENT
AWKA, Anambra, Nigeria- Nollywood actor, Pete Edochie on Wednesday received his gratuity from Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS, 19 years after retirement.
Pete Edochie retired as Director of Programmes in ABS in 1998. It is not clear how much he received but we gathered that it is in millions since he retired before the era of contributory pension.
He was among the first batch to received their gratuities from the office of the Anambra state Accountant General.
Also present to receive his cheque is Mr Boniface Offokaja who retired as Director General of the organisation ABS in 1984.
Speaking on the development, Pete Edochie said “Many of us have lost hope that we will ever receive our gratuities. Despite our meritorious service to Anambra state, successive governments chose to neglect us.
“What Governor Willie Obiano has done today is remarkable. We are praying for him because he is a compassionate governor “, he said.
Managing Director and CEO of Anambra Broadcasting Service, Nze Uche Nworah said Governor Obiano has lifted a huge burden off the shoulders of the organisation.
“We are delighted that today, some of our retirees including those who retired since 1984 have today received their outstanding gratuities. We thank Governor Obiano for making this possible”.
