ABUJA, Nigeria – Chairman Senate Committee on FCT and Senator representing Kogi West, Otumba Dino Melaye has lost in his bid to stop the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC from proceeding with his recall.
The people of Kogi had initiated recall process for the senator for what they described as his unsavoury behaviour in the Senate and lack of respect for leadership of the All Progressive Congress, APC, forcing INEC to commence the process.
But the senator went to court to obtain an injunction putting the process on hold pending determination of the matter.
But today, Justice Nnamdi Dimgba of the Federal High Court, Abuja dismissed the suit by Kogi West Senator, challenging the validity of the process.
Justice Nnamdi Dimgba ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission to proceed with the recall process.
He ordered that the process shall only proceed with the recall process, subject to the service of the petition, the full list and signatures of persons in support of the recall process.
