57TH ANNIVERSARY: SEN ALIMIKHENA TASKS NIGERIANS ON TENSION IN THE COUNTRY

ABUJA, Nigeria – As Nigeria celebrate its 57th years of independence, Senate Deputy Chief Whip Representing Edo North, Senator Francis Alimikhena has urged Nigerians to reduced tension in the country and stop the endless bickering among stakeholders.




According to him, the fructuous relationship among tiers of government and the choking incidence of security which has created apprehension among local and foreign investors.

According to the Senator, the unnecessary bickering is unhealthy for the nation’s economy. He appealed to those fanning conflict in various part of the nation to watch their activities and ensure the economy of the nation is not harmed by their actions and personal interest.

He maintained that, the independent celebration is a time to deepen our faith in ourselves and the nation.
“It is a time for all Nigerians to pledge that’, though tribe and tongue may differs but in brotherhood we stand. This is a season to be proud of our sovereign motherland. We must acknowledge our diversity and affirmed our unity as we celebrate our nations independence”, he said.

In a press statement issued by his personal Assistant Benjamin Atu, Senator Alimikhena lamented that Nigeria’s drift into chaos is both attitudinal and institutional and arresting this drift demand total re -orientation of individuals and collective awakening of government institutions to the reality on ground. We must revive the dreams of our founding fathers as encapsulated in our first National Anthem.

Our Youth must now think of creating jobs while government on its part must create the needed atmosphere for the Nigerian youth to achieve self actualization. “If our youth are well guided, the level of tension and apprehension in our nation today, will be minimal.” The Nigerian youth are hardworking and government must have a rethink on how to engaged the vibrant human sector in order to eliminate the tension in the land.

Senator Alimikhena who frown at the activities of social media publishers, condemn the unnecessary hype that the Nigeria media gives to trivial issues and create panic in various areas. The enormity of our national challenges currently, does not give room for pettiness or a politics of vendetta. Dont published stories that will make investors relocate from our country He appealed to online operators.

While acknowledging the role of media in our democracy Senator Alimikhena described the media as the champion of democracy and the defender of the people’s right. The task of the media is to market the economy potential of the nation to the outside world and help to reduce panic rather than creating them through unconfirm report. He also appealed to opposition party to desist from sponsoring false report to settle old scores or instigate fresh crisis.

On the achievement of Nigeria under the Buhari adminstration the Edo North Senator said the 57 years of Nigeria independence is worth celebrating. The Buhari administration has a booming economy and the massive Agricultural revolution which has made all Nigerians to accept and celebrate our locally produced rice with less dependence on importation. The Buhari administration has shown determination to make Nigeria completely self sufficient by exploring all areas of our comparative advantage over other nations.

While wishing the president and all Nigerians Happy celebration, Senator Francis Alimikhena commended the president for re-invigorating local industries, rapid expansion of our educational sector, rejuvenation of the power sector and his dedication to eliminating corruption in the system the statement added.
