MADU CHIKWENDU FOR AFRICAN UNION WORKSHOP ON CINEMATIC EXPRESSIONS
NAIROBI, Kenya – The African Union Commission is convening a workshop on Cinematic Expressions of the AU Agenda 2063 in Nairobi Kenya in September 2017.

The gathering of Audio Visual experts and stakeholders will discuss and propose a framework for financing, producing and distributing audio visual and cinematic works on the agenda. Nigerian Filmmaker Madu C Chikwendu has been invited to join the select group of Audio Visual experts.
The AU Agenda 2063 is a strategic framework for socio economic development and transformation of the continent over a period of 50 years. It is both a vision and an action plan. It is a call for action to all segments of the African society to work together to build a prosperous united and peaceful Africa based on shared values and common destiny.
The workshop seeks to engage filmmakers, financiers, distributors, broadcasters and other key players in the audio visual and cinema industry in progressing the aspirations and goals of the AU agenda 2063.
The invitation was conveyed by Ms. Angela Martins Ag.Director for Social Affairs, African Union Commission.In accepting the invitation Filmmaker Madu C Chikwendu expressed his delight:
‘I feel deeply honored to once again be part of history following my participation in the meetings and discussions leading to the establishment of the African Audio Visual and Cinema Commission including the meetings in Niamey, Burkina Faso etc. This opportunity to once again contribute to the deepening of the African cinematic space.’
The African Audio Visual and Cinema Commission AACC was established in 2016 with headquarters in Nairobi following its ratification by the AU Conference of Culture Ministers. It seeks to create and manage USD$500m fund for the production and distribution of cinema and audio visual products.
