OKADA, Edo, Nigeria – Commuters travelling to and fro the Lagos Benin Road are now in serious crisis. They are stranded at Okada and not able to move an inch, courtesy, Luxury bus drivers who have blocked the road on both side following robbery incident at Okada.




An eye witness said the bus drivers are insisting that the blockage will remain in place until the Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki comes out to address them.

The blockage, we gathered started at 3 am, when the driver of Ezenwatta luxury bus travelling from Lagos to Onitsha was shot at Okada. ” He managed to escape with the bus until he got to a point where policemen were able to rush him to a nearby hospital.

“Anothe bus, The Young was also robbed, this time, it was a passenger that was shot”, Desmond, an eye witness told UNILAG Radio 103 on phone from Okada.

We gathered that in June this year a number of robbery incidents were recorded on the spot, with at least 5 people killed forcing the governor to come out and reassure the transporters that it will never reoccur.

We gathered that the transporters are angry that this present incident is taking place less than a month after after the reassurance and that the policemen could not come to the spot of the incident in Okada.

Eye Witness said the traffic is now spilling into Ugbowo and Ore on the reverse side and that the situation will worsen unless the governor comes out to address the aggrieved transporters.
