KENSINGTON, London – The London Metropolitan Police has identified Zainab Deen as one of the dozens that died when fire gutted Grenfell Tower, North Kensington, London.





She was 22. Earlier, the police also identified 61 year old Hamid Kani and 30 others among those that died in the inferno.

Zainab’s father Zainu and Maria Deen said: “It is with great sadness that we can confirm we have been notified by the police that our daughter Zainab Deen died in the tragic Grenfell Tower fire.

“Zainab has been missing with her son, our grandchild, Jeremiah, who we still await news on. We respectfully ask to be allowed to grieve privately at this time.

“Funeral arrangements will now be made and all further updates will come from Zainab’s immediate family only. Thank you,” her parents said in a statement.

The family of Mr Kani said: “Hamid will always be remembered for his wit, compassion and devotion to his family and friends.

“No words can express our sorrow for his loss and the way he left us. He will always be part of our lives and his memory will live on.”

The London police earlier vowed to return the bodies of those who died in the incident to the families.

Others formally identified in agreement with the Coroner, Dr Fiona Wilcox are 23-year-old man, Mohammad Alhajali; 24-year-old woman, Ya-Haddy Sisi Saye, also known as Khadija Saye; 65-year-old man, Anthony Disson; 39-year-old man, Abufars Ibrahim; 52-year-old woman, Khadija Khalloufi; 52-year-old woman, Mary Mendy; 77-year-old man, Abdeslam Sebbar; five-year-old boy, Isaac Paulos; a woman, Sheila; 26-year-old woman, Gloria Trevisan; 27-year-old man, Marco Gottardi; 29-year-old woman Berkti Haftom; Berkti Haftom, aged 29.Anthony Disson, 65, Isaac Paulo, 52-year-old Mary Mendy, Mohammad Alhajali, aged 23, who lived in Grenfell Tower has now been formally identified.

The families of all 32 victims have been informed, and are being supported by specially trained family liaison office, the police has said.
