APC MEMBERS DEMAND SACK OF MUIZ BANIRE AS NATIONAL LEGAL ADVISER
IKEJA, Lagos, Nigeria – Leaders and members of All Progressives Congress APC today defied the heavy downpour to demand for the expulsion of the National Legal Adviser of the Party, Mr Muiz Banire SAN from the party. They also called on the EFCC to prosecute him for allegedly bribing a judge.
In a petition addressed to the Governor of Lagos State, His Excellency, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode and the Speaker Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa and the State Chairman, APC, Mr Ajomale in Ikeja, was signed by Kehinde Babatunde and Tayo Williams.
In the petition, the protesters submitted a list of 17 atrocities which they alleged that Muiz Banire commited to warrant his expulsion from the Party.
They accused Banire of anti-party activities and for granting interviews and insinuating that his life was in danger.
Part of the letter signed by two prominent party leaders in Mushin and obtained by our reporter reads;
RE CALL FOR REMOVAL AS NATIONAL LEGAL ADVISER AND EXPULSION FROM APC FOR ANTI-PARTY ACTIVITIES IN RE MUIZ BANIRE SAN.
It is with utmost respect and loyalty to your Excellency and our great Party APC that we the undersigned on behalf of concerned loyal and committed Party members of Mushin Local Government write to you in respect of the above subject.
Without mincing words on our resolve to follow the legacy of our leaders, we wish to respectfully ask for the removal as National Legal adviser of the Party and his expulsion based on his established anti-Party activities in accordance with ARTICLE 21 of the constitution of our great Party.
Permit us, your Excellency, to chronicle some of the grounds for our request which are largely anti-Party activities of Muiz anire as follows:
LIST OF ATROCITIES:
– Sponsoring cronies to write and cause to publish advertorials against the Party.
– Wrote and caused to be published negative correspondence against the Party in the media.
– Granting interviews to embarrass and have adverse effect on the Party to the extent of attracting hatred, contempt, ridicule and disrepute upon the Party.
– Intentionally negligent in duties as the National Legal Adviser to defend the Party and the Party’s interest.
– Carrying out unauthorized publicity of a Party dispute without exhausting all avenues for settlement or redress within the Party.
– Causing a Legal Representative to disavow the Party in a Law suit.
– Arrogantly admitting that he caused a Legal Representative to disavow the Party.
– Predicting and working towards the electoral failure of the Party.
– Inciting the public against the interest of the Party.
– Falsely accusing the Party of imposition in public whereas knowledgeable of the facts of the provision of the constitution of the Party for alternative means of conducting primaries other than direct primaries.
– Sponsoring a group called MEF to ridicule the Party and bring the Party into disrepute.
– Perpetrating blatant imposition in our constituency Mushin against the wish of majority of Party members to cause disaffection within the Party.
– Disobeying and causing others to disobey lawful directives of the Party.
– Carrying out anti-party activities towards the forthcoming local Government elections by encouraging members of his group to pick tickets of other parties.
– Disrupting the peaceful, lawful process of efficient organisation of the Party particularly in respect of the campaigns of candidates of the Party in the forthcoming elections by causing fear and apprehension that the Party may be disqualified from participating in the elections due to unethical conduct of Legal Representatives he assigned and still assigns matters to, in respect of litigations bothering on the elections, who have his instructions to disavow the Party which has led and could lead to unfavourable judgements.
– Causing the two elected representatives of our great Party from Odiolowo LCDA and Mushin Constituency 2 in the Lagos State House of assembly, Hon Funmi Tejuosho and Hon Layi Olawale to disobey lawful directives of the Party.
– Causing the Party grave embarrassment in his involvement in the widely publicised bribery allegation against a Judge of the National Industrial Court by making opposition parties posit that his not being charged along with the Judge is selective justice and portends perfidy on the part of APC led Government to fight corruption.
We note with respect your Excellency’s commitment to the Rule of Law and would therefore willingly make ourselves available whenever required in the interest of justice to resolve this matter, once and for all.
We stand committed to the goals of our great Party.
