UNITED STATES CONDEMNS DEADLY ATTACKS IN KABUL, BAGDAD

WASHINGTON, United States – The United States of America today condemned the deadly attacks in Bagdad, the Iraqi capital and Kabul, capital of Afghanistan.




Both attacks occured in a space of 48 hours killing almost 100 people. About 15 people were killed in Bagdad, while 80 people died in the Kabul attack.

Speaking on the development, Department Spokesperson, Heather Nauert said the United States strongly condemns both deadly attack in Kabul.
“We offer our deepest condolences to the families and friends of those who were killed and injured, including our Afghan partners, members of the diplomatic and international communities, and many innocent Afghan citizens.

” We pray for a speedy recovery to the American and Afghan members of our mission staff and others who were injured in this attack, and we praise the Afghan Security Forces, police, and medical professionals who were the first responders to the scene’, the statement said, adding in the face of this senseless and cowardly act, the U.S. commitment to Afghanistan is unwavering.

“The United States stands with the government and the people of Afghanistan and will continue to support their efforts to achieve peace, security, and prosperity for their country.

“We condemn in the strongest possible terms the recent barbaric attacks carried out by ISIS terrorists in Baghdad. These brutal attacks, whose victims included innocent children breaking the Ramadan fast and elderly Iraqis collecting their pensions, demonstrate once again the wanton savagery of the enemy we face”, the department said of the attacks.

“We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the victims and hope for a speedy recovery of those wounded.

“And we underline, as the President said recently, “All people who cherish life must unite in finding, exposing, and removing these killers and extremists”, he said, adding the United States reaffirms its commitment to support the government and people of Iraq in their struggle against‎ ISIS.
