FORBES ACCUSED OF VIOLATING ANTIMONOPOLY LAW IN RUSSIA

MOSCOW, Russia – AC Rus Media company, founder and publisher of Forbes magazine has been accused of violating the Federal Antimonopoly Service’s (FAS).




According to FAS Moscow directorate, Forbes violated legislation by advertising smoking products, the agency has said.

FAS said there was advertisement of “Zenith” watches brand published in the “Cohiba Special Edition version” in one of the Forbes issues.

The layout of the publication, FAS said contained the registered trademark for the Cohiba manufacturer of Cuban cigars and that it was related directly to the watches advertised.

FAS said then the advertisement could spark the readers’ interest not only in the watches, but also in tobacco products produced by Cohiba. Such advertisement is prohibited by Russian legislation.
