DELTA SPEAKER, MONDAY IGBUYA IMPEACHED, OBOREVWORI ELECTED

ASABA, Delta, Nigeria – Speaker Delta State House of Assembly, Monday Ovwigho Igbuya has been impeached. He was impeached early Thursday morning.

His impeachment notice was signed by twenty two lawmakers of the assembly. The lawmakers also elected Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori as new Speaker of the House.

No reason has been advanced for his impeachment. Special Adviser to the former Speaker on Media, Ovie Ebireri was not available for comment on the development.

There are no clear reasons as to why the Speaker was impeached. But political pundits believe his impeachment is unconnected with his comment on Ighoyota Amori for contesting PDP chairmanship seat.

He had in a statement through his media aide, Henry Ebireri said, ” Amori contesting the chairmanship position is taking a step backward.

He is bigger than that. His mates are national officers of the party. He should think of becoming a national officer of the party. If he decides to contest, I will not support him.”
