OLUSEGUN OBASANJO PRESIDENTIAL LIBRARY OPENS IN GRAND STYLE
ABEOKUTA, Ogun, Nigeria – The Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library was formerly inaugurated today at a grannd ceremony in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria.
The library which has been in use was inaugurated belatedly today about 17 years since the former Nigerian President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo left office. Obasanjo left office May 29, 1999.
The library which was billed to be inaugurated in 2013 along with the launch of the book, ‘President of Presidents‘ was aborted after an elaborate preparation even after invitation cards have been sent out. No reason major was given for aborting the ceremony.
However, we gathered that it was because Obasanjo allegedly invited governors but did not invite then President, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, who said he will be present since his governors were invited.
Not comfortable with the development, Obasanjo traveled out leaving the organizers in disarray and consequent cancellation of the inauguration.
However today’s ceremony was well attended. Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan was absent. Among notable personalities at the event were former Secretary General of the United Nations, Koffi Anan, National leader of the All Progressive Comgress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, that of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun, Governor of Kastina State, Alhaji Aminu Masari (right) Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed (left) and former EFCC Chairman, Alhaji Nuhu Ribadu.
