IFE, Osun, Nigeria – Osun State Governor, Ogbeni. Rauf. Aregbesola has imposed a dusk to dawn curfew on Ile-Ife following the bloody clash between Yoruba and Hausa people.
So far, the death toll has climbed to 10, with several others injured, as both sides continue to engage each other in an orgy of violence over allegation of rape and sexual harassement by of Yoruba women by Hausa men.
In a statement, the Osun State Government said it was compelled by the breach of the peace in the area which has led to avoidable destruction of lives and properties.
“The curfew, which will be between 6pm to 7am, will be in force till Friday. The curfew takes effect from today Wednesday March, 8th, 2017”, the government said.
