ALAGBADO, Lagos, Nigeria – For Chairman, Nigerian Union of Journalists, Lagos State chapter, Mrs. Funke Fadugba has retired from active journalism.

The former chairman who narrowly missed being elected as President of NUJ has retired as General Manager News and Current Affairs at Raypower, one of the outfits run by Daar Communications.

We learnt she is leaving journalism to settle down and run her school. She has in the meantime been replaced with Abiola Abiragba.

Fadugba was quite resourceful at Raypower where she produced news, presented news and Yoruba programme on Faaji FM, also run by Daar Communications Plc. She also featured as resource person on media and other issues adfecting the welfare of journalists.

As chairman, NUJ, she initiated a landownership scheme that today made many journalists landlords at Journalists Estate, Arepo, Ogun State, the first to be done by any group of journalists. That project brought her into public reckoning.
Back at Raypower, her absence is already a subject of debate among journalists and fellow workers. She is retiring after putting 35 years in journalism.
