CONDEMNATION AS 3 DIE, 20 INJURE IN TERRORIST ATTACK IN WESTMINSTER

WESTMINSTER, London – Not less than three people are dead and 20 people injured as terrorists struck once more in Westminster, the heart of London.

The attacker had used vehicle as a weapon with which he drove over a group of people on Westminster Bridge. He was thereafter shot and killed by armed policemen. So far, the police is treating the incident as a terror attack on the United Kingdom.

The incident prompted Prime Minister of Britain Theresa May to hold an emergency meeting with members of his cabinet. Metropolitan Police has called on those involved to call its casualty bureau on 0800 056 0944 or 020 7158 0010, just as condemnation has continued to pour in from all over the world.

“On behalf of the United States, I express my condolences to the victims and their families. The American people send their thoughts and prayers to the people of the United Kingdom. We condemn these horrific acts of violence, and whether they were carried out by troubled individuals or by terrorists, the victims know no difference”, Secretary State, Rex W. Tilleson said.

OSCE Chairperson-in-Office and Austria’s Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz and OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier also condemned the attacks in London, offering their sincere condolences to the families and friends of those killed, and wishing those hurt and caught up in the incidents a rapid recovery.

“Today’s attack in London’s Westminster, the heart and the centre of British democracy, is a brazen attack on our common values and an attempt to instill fear in our societies,” said Kurz. “We will stand together to protect our democratic and open societies. We commit ourselves to working together in countering hatred, fanaticism, violent extremism and terrorism.”




Secretary General Zannier said: “The attacks in the vicinity of the British Houses of Parliament are an attempt to undermine our democratic societies. Instead of reacting as the terrorists want, we will work together to intensify our joint efforts to stand up to forces that use violence and fear to exploit what still divides us.”
