YENEGOA, Bayelsa – A socio-political organisation, Bayelsa Youths Coalition (BYC), has condemned, alleged attempts by detractors led by Ijaw activist and Convener, Niger Delta Self-Determination Movement, Ms. Akio Briggs to incite citizens against the Bayelsa State Government over its decision to restrict herdsmen and their cattle to the Bayelsa Palm Area for grazing.

A statement issued by the Publicity Secretary of BYC, Franklin Agbeki, said Ms. Briggs “stormed Yenagoa on Valentine Day” which is Governor Seriake Dickson’s 5th anniversary as governor of the state “to mobilize Bayelsans for a violent protest against the government.”

Agbeki said, “Ms. Briggs stormed Yenagoa, the state capital in the early hours of Tuesday in company of hoodlums imported from her home state, Rivers. She was reportedly sharing money to youths in the Tombia Roundabout of the state capital, majority of whom are members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to lure them into violent protest but were dispersed by security operatives.”

The BYC described the act as irresponsible and unwarranted and warned Briggs and her sponsors to “steer clear of Bayelsa State.”

He warned that BYC will vehemently resist any attempt to import the crises in her home (Rivers State) to Bayelsa State.

“Ms Briggs’ incitement and attempt to breakdown law and order was coming few days after, the Special Adviser on Security Matter to Governor Dickson, Dr. Spero Jack, had raised the alarm over a plot by the opposition to disrupt the 5th anniversary of the governor.”
